Some days…


Have you ever had one of those days where you wake up with a plan in your head on things that you want to get done, but no matter what you do, you can’t keep your day from going completely sideways?

Yea, me too.

Actually, that was today.

I had planned to work on the professional site and launch it.

I had planned post an article there.

I had planned to have a conference call with a new lead.

had planned a lot of things today.  But I only managed to get 1 of the things I had planned to do, finished.

I could use the excuse ‘other things came up’, or ‘I had other things that jumped higher on the priority chain’, but ultimately my failure to plan properly caused all my other planning to be for naught.

I should note that today was by no means a lost day.  I did get stuff done. Lots of long, boring work stuff.  Just not the stuff I set out to accomplish when I woke up at 5:30am this morning.

As for the one thing I planned to do, and got done? It was the call with the potential new client.  So, what made this plan different than all the others?

I wrote it down in my calendar and set reminders. Then, I set a realistic deadline for when the deliverables would be sent out.

I am really great at marking my calendar for business, it just doesn’t seem to always translate into my personal affairs.

I get so busy, dealing with stuff as it comes in that I sometimes forget to take a moment, evaluate, and then make plans with purpose.

Well tomorrow is a new day.


And with writing this post, I have successfully made it 2 things I planned to get done today. Maybe it wasn’t so sideways after all.
