Merry Christmas 2010 – Reflections

So it has been a while since I have posted to my blog. Always busy with work or trying not to work, but I figured I would take a moment to recap the year that is, soon to be was, 2010.

For starters, 2010 marks me being on this planet for a quarter century… Obama started his second year in the hot seat and our nation finally, for better or worse implemented health care for every citizen of our fine country. This year also marked the 2010 Olympics held in Vancouver, Canada, where the US came in 3rd for gold Medals.

Lady Gaga was diagnosed with Lupus (She also earned the title most generous celebrity of 2010), Leslie Nielsen passed away (“Don’t Call me Surly”) and Ricky Martin came out of the closet (Did any one NOT see this coming?).

Our nation also was forced to deal with bulling in schools and the impact it has on students and families due to multiple teen suicides this year, most notably the one of a gay student at Rutgers University. Tyler Clementi was the break in the dam that caused a pour of information to hit main stream media regarding teasing, bulling and “pranks”. The turn of events that followed were surprising. Dozens of of groups and celebrities openly took a stand against bullying and discrimination for any reason. Jim Swilley, a pastor of a “mega church” in Georgia took it one step further and came out of the closet stating “There are two things in my life that are an absolute. I did not ask for either one of them. Both of them were imposed on me. I had no control over them. One was the call of God on my life … the other thing was my sexual orientation,” and Perez Hilton claimed he would stop being a “cyber bully” (so far he has held to it).

My Blog Turned 1 year old 😛

Irvine Achieved Xen 😀

Celebrities world wide died (socially) on world AIDS day to raise money for AIDS research and medicine for people in Africa.

My Title was updated to “Cloud Specialist” 😀

Lunarpages (the company I work for) signed an agreement to start offering Securelive to our customers to help protect customer’s websites.

I know 2010 was a big year for a lot of people but those are some of the things that stood out to me. Below is a YouTube Video I found that recaps movies of 2010 put to some pretty sweet tunes.

As always feel free to post comments. Maybe post what made 2010 special for you.
